Iniciou-se na vida laboral a rapar vinha, depois a mondar, e cedo percebeu que o segredo estava em aproveitar as oportunidades. A par destas atividades, importava madeira de criptom\u00e9ria de S\u00e3o Miguel e chegou a gerir vinhas e a produzir aguardentes. Come\u00e7aram com uma carrinha emprestada, mas depressa ganharam dimens\u00e3o, adquirindo os seus pr\u00f3prios ve\u00edculos e ampliando a rede de clientes.
